Worker Injured in Two Falls Receives $422,385

I am proud of a strong settlement I was able to achieve for a great client. This victory is particularly special because my client Norman's injury claims were first disputed and denied by his employer. This meant that we had an uphill battle from the start, but were ultimately successful in obtaining justice for Norman's work related injuries.

Norman fell twice at his place of employment. The first fall happened in February of 2009 while he was using a hose to clean equipment. The second fall was more severe and happened in November of 2009 when Norman fell more than 10 feet off of a front-end loader. He sustained serious head and neck injuries with permanent side effects as a result of the falls.

Norman's employer's insurance company rushed him through medical treatment and declared that he had reached maximum medical improvement (MMI). Fortunately, the insurance company's vocational expert had shared his opinion that Norman could not compete on the open labor market with the pain and disability from his injuries. As a result, I was able to secure a settlement of $422,385 in benefits for my client.

This was not a case that was quickly moved through the workers' compensation claims process. His claims were denied by his employer and further delayed due to complications from a life-threatening illness that left Norman hospitalized for quite some time. We were able to work through the delays and work around his illness to achieve a favorable outcome.
